Draw Some Noise!

// January 2nd, 2009 // Experiments, Source code & tutorials

FlashPlayer 10 has a built in ability to access the sound output buffer. So now we can generate sound with pure ActionScript. And since I haven’t done anything with this new great feature, I made some kind of drawing synthesiser :

Draw some noise! (With the emphasis on “noise”. I don’t know if I did something wrong, or is it just hard to draw a solid tone?)

Instructions: Download FlashPlayer 10 (if you don’t have it), draw the waves from right to left, and start playing with the “f”, “g”, “h” an “j” keys.

AS3 noise

Download the source (Flex 3.2 project): draw_some_noise

And before I forget… Happy New Year!
